Process stages - Swiss Organic Fabrics: ecological throughout!
Bio-cotton – Sustainable production of natural fibre ensures high quality
Swiss Organic Fabrics prohibits the use of synthetic fertilisers and pesticides. Natural substances such as compost, manure and dung are used as fertilisers while “useful insects” combat pests.
Certified organic cotton
Swiss Organic Fabrics cotton must originate from controlled biological growing and be duly certified. Another quality feature is the exclusive use of organic extra-long staple cotton. By comparison with ordinary organic cotton, organic ELS cotton ensures high tear resistance and remains particularly supple. It imparts a soft and silky feel to the end product.
As only about 2% of the entire organic cotton production satisfies the criteria of 35-55 mm fibre length for extra-long staple cotton, this is an exclusive and rare raw material.
Qualities with extra-long staple originate primarily from Egypt, India, Israel, Peru and the USA. Swiss Organic Fabrics does not accept genetically modified cotton.
